NSS Unit GGZSMDC Reasi celebrates NSS Foundation Day

REASI, September 25: National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Singh Degree College, Reasi celebrated NSS Foundation Day, 2023 with great Zeal and Enthusiasm.

The College Staff members, NSS Volunteers and   other students participated in the NSS Day function.

 The function started with the welcome of the Chief Guest, Dr. Kulvinder Kour, the College Principal and the Special Guest Jasvir Singh, District Development Councillor Mougri-Panchari Constituency, Udhampur who has served in National Service Scheme for more than 10 years and also awarded with Indira Gandhi NSS National Award.

Earlier, the Chief Guest and other guests lit the ceremonial lamp followed by Sarswati Vandana and a presentation of Dogri Folk Dance by the NSS volunteers of the college.

The NSS Aluminous named Shivani Menia, Bhawani Singh, Pallvi Lakhnotra, Priya Lakhnotra, Sumit Bali, Vishal Chandan, Nmo Narayan and Yashika Abrol were also present on the occasion. They shared their college time experiences with the students and volunteers. They were also encouraged by the college administration with appreciation Certificates for their valuable services to National Service Scheme. Further, former NSS Program Officers of the college Dr. Amit Kumar Bali and Prof. Palvinder Kumari were also honored by the college NSS Unit on the occasion.  Sumit Bali, NSS Alumni and Meenakshi Rajput, NSS volunteers presented the solo dance performances which received lots of applause.

 Special Guest Jasvir Singh, while speaking on the occasion, shared his various valuable National and International experiences about his journey from student to a NSS volunteer and then to be a member of District Development Council. He further explained in detail about the National Service Scheme (NSS) and also thrown light on the real life meaning of NSS and relate NSS. He also apprised students about how to make the NSS a philosophy and a way of life in real and practical sense. The Chief Guest, Dr. Kulvinder Kour also interacted with the students and appraised them about the activities done and services they rendered from time to time. Further, the volunteers presented Punjabi Jhoomer and Bhangra to entertain the audience present in the hall. The function ended with the presentation of the NSS Song by the volunteers. Formal welcome address was presented by Prof. Norin Akhter and vote of thanks was presented by Shashi Kumar Sharma.

The whole function was organized under the supervision of NSS Program Officer, Prof. Ajay Kumar and NSS Committee members comprising Prof. Palvinder Kumari, Dr. Saleem Ahmed, Prof. Norin Akhter and Mr. Shashi Kumar Sharma, Physical Director of the college. NSS Program Officer, Prof. Ajay Kumar was also honored with Appreciation Certificate by the college administration for his valuable contributions in NSS since last one year. Others prominent who witnessed the function includes Prof. Samriti Aggarwal, Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Prof. Kewal Krishan, Prof. Upasana, Prof. Ameeq Rehman. NSS Volunteers named Garima Dogra, Vasudha Devi, Atul Kumar, Sonia Devi, Nilakshi Singh and Pallavi Sharma hosted the stage throughout the whole function.
