NSS unit GDC Kathua organises host of activities under MMMD Campaign

KATHUA, AUGUST 09: NSS Units of GDC Kathua today kick-started a series of activities under the Nation-wide “Meri Mati Mera Desh” Campaign by paying tribute to the ‘Veers’ who laid down their lives for the country.

Under the campaign, Principal Prof Seema Mir along with Staff members, NSS Program Officers and volunteers took the Panch Pran Pledge. The pledge was read out by Volunteer, Meeankshi Bakshi.

Pertinently, NSS units of the College, Jarai and Naroli Panchayats of Nagri Block have been adopted, besides programs will be organised in the institution from 9th to 30th August, 2023 under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign.

The campaign will include various programs to remember the bravehearts (Veers) including the installation of Shilaphalakams (memorial plaques) in villages and panchayats. This campaign is the concluding event of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ which began on 12th March, 2021.

The campaign will feature programs like the establishment of Shilaphalakams dedicated to freedom fighters and security forces, as well as initiatives like Panch Pran Pledge, Vasudha Vandan, Veeron ka Vandan which venerates the gallant sacrifices of our bravehearts. Shilaphalakam or Memorial plaques saluting the spirit of sacrifice of local brave hearts from these adopted panchayats will be undertaken at the Panchayat level.

The activities under Meri Mati Mera Desh are being organised under the patronage of Principal, Prof. Seema Mir and guidance of NSS Program officers Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Neha Bandral and Dr Suresh Sharma.

The senior most faculty members Prof Raj Kiran Sharma,Head Department of Physics; Dr Shivani Kotwal Associate professor Department of English, Dr Amreek Singh Assistant Professor Department of Geography  and Dr Kamaldeep Singh  Head Department of Punjabi also grace the occasion with their benign presence.
