National Deworming Day observed at Shopian

DC inaugurates the camp

SHOPIAN, MARCH 11: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today inaugurated a camp, organised on eve of National Deworming Day by Health Department at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Shopian.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of National Deworming Day and said that it is celebrated to make people aware of the importance of deworming for good health.   

The Chief Medical Officer said that parasite worms are a menace to society, both for people and animals. In a message Dr. Arshad  said worm infestation can reduce the quality of life in children, stunt their physical growth, and mental development.  

On this occasion, the health functionaries of District Hospital Shopian distributed Albendazole tablets among the school going-children.

The function was also attended by Dr. Mohammad Yousuf and other officials from District Hospital Shopian.

Similar functions were organised at Block levels where BMOs and other staff visited schools and organised awareness programmes regarding the deworming while administering the Albendazole dosage.
