National Apprenticeship Promotion Mela held at ITI Shopian

SHOPIAN, JUNE 16: National Apprenticeship Promotion Mela (NAPM) was organised today at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Shopian, drawing enthusiastic participation from hundreds of aspiring apprentices, industry representatives, training partners and government officials.

The event marked another significant step forward in advancing the objectives of the Apprenticeship scheme, promoting on-the-job training and strengthening the ecosystem of apprenticeship in the country.

Superintendent, ITI Shopian gave a detailed presentation of the scheme, highlighting the win-win situation that the scheme offers for both Industries and potential apprentices. He stressed on companies and industry to come forward with zeal and enthusiasm so that the scheme is implemented as envisioned by policy makers in line with broader objective of Skill India Mission

The event was attended by the companies dealing with cold storage chain, logistics, automobile, horticulture, Information technology and banking sectors. The participating companies and industries offered apprenticeship roles and guidance on career pathways to the apprentices and also offered career counselling and mentorship to job seekers and stressed on need of specific skill, practical knowledge and Industry experience in addition to theoretical knowledge.

Participation of over 15 companies and employers offered on-the-job training roles and registration of over 100 candidates for apprenticeship opportunities. On the spot counselling and skill assessment was also provided to job seekers.

On the occasion, awareness sessions were held on the benefits of apprenticeship programmes under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), which provides financial support to establishments for engaging apprentices and direct benefit transfer to engaged apprentices during the contract period.
