NABARD Celebrates International Women’s Day in Anantnag, Kulgam

SRINAGAR, MARCH 07: To celebrate International Women’s Day, NABARD organised two impressive programmes at RSETI Anantnag and  RSETI Kulgam.

 The programmes attracted a large number of female trainees who  have undergone training in various trades such as tailoring, beautician, general EDP and other courses.

Besides, Cluster Head, Shaziya Khan who was chief guest; DDM NABARD Rouf Zargar, LDM Anantnag, Director, RSETI Anantnag, DST Trainer attended the International Women’s Day celebration event at Anantnag.

Similarly, at Kulgam the event was attended  by District Officers of NABARD including DDM, LDM, Director RSETI, DST  and others.

On the occasion, Ridwana, a successful social entrepreneur running Kashmir’s first sanitary pad making unit in Anantnag was invited as special invitee.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDM NABARD  highlighted the theme of International Womens Day, “Count her in- Accelerating Gender Equality through Economic Empowerment”. He quoted instances of various SHGs promoted by NABARD who have set the example of women empowerment and financial independence. 

He also shared the details of various  schemes of NABARD for empowerment of rural women through Microenterprise Development Programmes (MEDPs), Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programmes (LEDPs), Self-help Groups (SHGs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), watershed, financial and digital literacy campaigns.

Lead District Managers spoke on the occasion and expressed their views about women empowerment. They threw light on the role of banks in supporting female entrepreneurs.  Details about women centric schemes of central and state government were discussed in detail which are aimed to give priority to women by empowering them in various fields.

Speaking on the occasion,  Shazia said that there is the need to celebrate this day to highlight the importance and significance of the women’s role in developing the prosperous and respectable society. She said women with their sheer grit, dedication and determination have achieved their goals. 

She said women need to be empowered at par with men as they have the capacity, capability and even talent to demonstrate with enormous success in every field. 

On the occasion, 05 female trainees in each RSETI were felicitated for their outstanding achievements in livelihood generation and establishment of income generating units. These women  shared their journey and success stories with  other participants.
