“Meri Maati Meri Desh” campaign gains momentum across Samba; MVD organises awareness programme

SAMBA, AUGUST 09: Under the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Samba conducted an awareness programme at the National High School main Bazar Samba.

ARTO, Shammi Kumar, along with MVI C.S Baloria, led the awareness initiative focused on road safety and held as part of the “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” campaign.

A significant number of students and teaching staff were present during the programme. The students were educated about various road safety measures to minimize accidents and save precious lives. They were urged to avoid underage driving, using mobile phones while driving, triple riding, and racing on the road. The importance of wearing a crash helmet and fastening seat belts while operating two-wheelers or cars was also emphasized.

During the awareness programme, ARTO Samba enlightened the students about the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters in securing India’s independence. They were also informed about the supreme sacrifices made by our soldiers for the security and safety of our nation. The students were encouraged to follow the footsteps of our freedom fighters and soldiers to instill a sense of sacrifice within themselves. It’s worth mentioning that the “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” campaign aims to evoke patriotism and unity, promoting respect for the nation’s soil and symbols of independence.

The “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, initiated by the Government of India, serves as the closing programme of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, commemorating 75 years of Indian Independence. This campaign will run from August 9 to August 15, with its primary objective being to honor and pay tribute to the brave martyrs, freedom fighters, and courageous women who made sacrifices during India’s struggle for freedom, stated ARTO Samba, Shammi Kumar.

As a part of the campaign, a Panch Pran Pledge ceremony was conducted involving students, teaching staff, and Motor Vehicle Department members. The school’s Principal, Raman Singh Sambyal, and Motor Vehicle Department employees were also in attendance at this programme.
