Mega Yoga event organised at historic Samba Fort as prelude to 11th International Day of Yoga
SAMBA, JUNE 17: The Department of AYUSH, in collaboration with District Administration Samba, organized a Yoga Event at the historic Samba Fort today, marking a significant prelude to the upcoming 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations.
The wellness initiative was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma and Director AYUSH J&K, Dr. Nuzhat Bashir Shah, with direct supervision by District Nodal Officer AYUSH Dr. Renu Dass.
The comprehensive program commenced with an enlightening awareness session on yoga delivered by Dr. Rozy, Medical Officer, AHWC Gho Brahmna, followed by an engaging demonstration and practice of the Common Yoga Protocol. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from government officials, staff members and citizens from across the district.
Adding educational value to the event, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Medical Officer AHWC Nud, shared comprehensive insights into yoga’s rich history, underlying philosophy and extensive health benefits, enriching participants’ understanding of this ancient practice.
The event achieved exceptional success with more than 180 participants, actively engaging in the yoga session, demonstrating the community’s growing commitment to holistic wellness practices. The enthusiastic response reflects the increasing awareness and acceptance of yoga as an integral component of healthy living.
Held at the culturally significant Samba Fort, this mega event not only promoted physical and mental wellness but also highlighted the integration of traditional practices with modern health initiatives.
