Mandeep Kaur assesses progress on Urban Development in Katra

REASI, FEBRUARY 28: Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Mandeep Kaur, today conducted an extensive tour of Katra town, visiting various locations to assess progress on development works being executed by Katra Municipal Committee.

The Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by District Development Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan, ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu, Punit Sharma, SDM Katra and EO Municipal Committee Katra and other officers.

He elaborately discussed multi pronged strategies for further development of municipal infrastructure besides streamlining urban planning undertakings. He reviewed the ongoing projects, discussed strategies to enhance civic services, improve infrastructure resilience and ensure sustainability of urban growth in Katra.

During the inspection of key sites such as the Inter-Modal Station and MSWM site at village Tan Talab, Kundororian and municipal commercial building at counter 2, Katra, the Commissioner Secretary asked the concerned stakeholders to ensure prompt and efficient project execution.

During visit to MSWM site, the Commissioner Secretary emphasised the need to have systematic handling of waste materials, focusing on collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of waste, along with monitoring and regulation.

The Commissioner Secretary laid emphasis on enhancing waste processing facility in Katra town that would be responsible for scientific disposal of waste, ensuring environmental safety and health standards. Additionally, there was a call to address the remediation of legacy waste, which implies taking steps to treat and properly manage previously accumulated waste at the site, further mitigating environmental impact.

Mandeep Kaur underscored the commitment of Housing and Urban Development Department to development of Katra and its aspiration to provide world-class infrastructure and services to its residents.
