Maiden Fruit and vegetable Mandi inaugurated in Ramban

RAMBAN, April 17: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Mussarat Islam today inaugurated the newly constructed Farmers’ Fruit and vegetable Mandi here near Phelti road, Maitra.

AMO, Sunil Bakshi, Sarpach Maitra, Mohinder Singh, other officers and officials,   several farmers, orchardists and traders, besides prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.

After inaugurating the Mandi, the Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the farmers to avail the benefit of the facility by selling their vegetables and fruit produce in an organized direct way. He informed that the establishment of Mandi is a community initiative.

He also appreciated the Area Marketing Officer, Ramban, Sunil Bakshi for establishing the Mandi to facilitate the farmers to sell agricultural products. He urged the general public of Ramban to avail the benefit of Mandi in which fruit and vegetables are available at wholesale rates. 

The DC urged the farmers to sell their agro-based produce at the Mandi to take benefit from the initiative of the department.

Highlighting the importance of the facility, the AMO said that all kinds of fruit and vegetable trade will be conducted in the Mandi which will help to develop the horticulture sector in the district. He assured full support from the department to farmers for the smooth functioning of the Mandi.

This is the first farmer mandi constructed by the district administration Ramban and facilitated by the Horticulture Planning & Marketing department Ramban.
