Largest-ever civil-military cleanup held for the first time in Nyoma, Changthang on World Environment Day

Nyoma, June 5, 2025: For the first time in Nyoma, Changthang region, Nyoma Youth Association, the #IndianArmy & 11 civil organisations led the region’s largest-ever civil-military cleanup as part of #WorldEnviroentDay— clearing 44 km of roads & 40 km of the Indus River (incl. midstream) in over 3 days from Mahe to Loma.

56 students from Govt Middle, Govt Hr Sec & KGBV schools joined the drive to remove 14 tons of waste from this ecologically fragile zone.

This high-altitude mission is a drive to help protect endangered species like the Black-necked Crane, Kiang, Snow Partridge & Brahminy Duck. A powerful message of unity, conservation & youth action — with deepest gratitude to the Indian Army for their unwavering support in safeguarding not just borders, but nature itself.
