LAMP in collaboration with Dept of Education organizes XVIIth Orientation cum Workshop

Jammu, May 02- Learner’s Ability Management Programme (LAMP) in collaboration with the Department of Education, University of Jammu organized the XVIIth Orientation Session cum Workshop on the theme “Indigenous Toys of India.” Eminent resource person Prof. C.B Sharma graced the occasion and Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai was the Chief Patron of the conclave. On the occasion, Prof. C.B Sharma discussed about the Handbook for the teachers proposed by the NCERT on toy-based learning and named it “JADU KA PITARA”. He discussed that a set of toys should be created for the children to connect it to their curriculum by giving classic examples of hand-made toys from Andhra Pradesh. Different members present in the meeting deliberated and put forth their suggestions on how these indigenous toys of India can enter into the Indian classrooms and help children to learn from them. Exposure to a variety of colours to the children, reaching out to the rural areas to understand the importance of local and indigenous toys in the education of the children, teaching the concept from known to unknown, sensitization to the masses about the significance of lost treasures of indigenous toys in learning etc. are some of the valuable suggestions that were given by the distinguished guests present. Dr. Kajal Devi Manhas, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, University of Jammu presented her formal welcome address. Earlier, the profile of the eminent speaker was presented by Ms. Dyutima Kesar, Research Scholar, Department of Education. The session was steered into action with the prayer by. Ms. Senorita.  Dr. Ana Bali conducted the session and briefed the gathering about the previous sessions of LAMP held so far.

Prof. Renu Nanda, Head, Department of Education gave her concluding remarks followed by a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms Neha Bandral.
