Kishtwar: Animal Husbandry Department organises awareness camp at village Pallan

KISHTWAR, March 11: Under its information dissemination and promotional activities, the Department of Animal Husbandry Kishtwar organised an awareness camp today at village Pallan Trigam. Councillor, District Development Council Trigam was the chief guest of the occasion.

Several PRIs and around 85 animal breeders, including female farmers, participated in the camp. The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kishtwar, Dr Sanjay Kumar Sen, was the main campaigner of the event, accompanied by Dr Mukesh Kumar (VAS) and other staff from the concerned Veterinary Centres.

CAHO Kishtwar educated the local public about the department’s schemes, such as IDDS and IPDP and encouraged educated unemployed youths to take advantage of these schemes to generate livelihoods for themselves and others. The local public was also informed about the benefits of artificial insemination using frozen semen technology and the Sex Sorted Semen (SSS) scheme for the genetic upgrading of local cattle breeds. They were told about the availability of sex-sorted frozen semen technology at nearby Veterinary Centres for artificial insemination.

To boost local milk production, farmers were given free medicines, mineral mixtures, calcium supplements, dewormers, vaccinations and general treatment. They were also educated about other beneficial schemes of the department, such as KCC and Livestock Insurance.

The public was asked to cooperate and benefit from the department’s various schemes. The public representative of the village appreciated the department’s efforts to improve the socio-economic status of the public and asked for full cooperation in achieving the benefits extended under different schemes. They also requested that such free camps be conducted in the future.
