JMC encourages students for plastic-free, green campus at GCW Parade
JAMMU, MAY 21: Jammu Municipal Corporation, under the guidance of the Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav and in collaboration with Government College for Women, Parade Jammu, organized an awareness campaign on Solid Waste Management themed “Char Bin Apnao, Prakriti Bachao” here on the College Campus. The drive focused on source segregation and the ban on single-use plastics.
The move aimed to promote a plastic-free, green campus by encouraging students and faculty to adopt sustainable waste management practices and help reduce plastic pollution.
The campaign saw active participation from the College Principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo, reflecting strong institutional commitment.
Dr. Gurpreet Kour, NSS Programme Officer, and Kapleshwar Sharma, IEC Executive at JMC, efficiently coordinated the activities, leading NSS volunteers and staff in executing the awareness drive.
Representatives from Jammu Municipal Corporation Sikander and Ankush Sharma, interacted with professors and students, emphasizing the importance of creating a single-use plastic-free campus.
Faculty members and officials contributed by raising questions and sharing insightful suggestions on the issue.
This collaborative initiative, guided by Dr. Devansh Yadav, marked a significant step toward fostering an environmentally conscious and responsible academic environment on campus.
