JKTPO organises export awareness, capacity building workshop in Poonch

POONCH, March 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) organised an export awareness workshop in Poonch in association with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), District Administration Poonch, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd (ECGC), Micro Small & Medium Enterprises and State Bank of India (SBI).

The workshop included detailed sessions on the benefits of exports, the process of obtaining an IEC code, awareness about the India Business Portal and India Trade Portal, credit linkages for exports and credit risk insurance facilities, e-commerce platforms, logistics and the potential of regional products in the international market.

Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the importance of exports for products from Poonch. He emphasised the need for capacity building in farming and artisans of woollen products.

Deputy Director DGFT Jammu, AK Bhushan briefed participants about various government schemes for promoting exports and informed them about the documentation required for IEC registration. Participants were given detailed presentations on all major aspects related to exports, including a checklist for documents required to obtain an IEC Code and market linkages.

Queries from participants were resolved on the spot regarding registration and other related issues. The relevance of bridging the information gap was also highlighted and various export-related schemes sponsored by the Government of India such as EPCG, MEIS, SEIS and advance authorisation schemes were also discussed.

Dr Kausar Fatima from APEDA informed participants about rules, regulations and guidelines for exporters on various products as per the concerned country for export. The registration process with APEDA was also discussed, including how it can help build a brand through publicity, advertisements and packaging.

Deputy Director FIEO, Gaurav Gupta gave a presentation on the benefits of registration on the Indian Business Portal. He informed participants about free online business, easy and affordable credit rating, compliance with the government and updates from FIEO via email.

The JKTPO team briefed the audience about the organisation’s mandate and various trade and export promotion initiatives. JKTPO regularly organises and participates in activities such as buyer-seller meets, trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences and seminars at national and international levels for registered members and women entrepreneurs. This Export Awareness and Capacity Building workshop is part of such activities to boost trade.

The workshop was also attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Malikzada Sheraz Ul Haq; General Manager DIC Poonch, Dr Zakir Hussain; Chief Agriculture Officer, Rakesh Sharma; Assistant General Manager Poonch, Charan Kamal Singh; Lead District Manager, Ashutosh Koul; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr Ashish Mahajan and members of industrial associations, entrepreneurs, artisans, FPOs, SHGs and women entrepreneurs.
