JKAACL Paid tributes to Prof. Rehman Rahi at K.L.Saigal Hall, Jammu

Jammu, January, 10: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, organised a condolence meeting to pay tributes to the  Jnanpith Awardee Kashmiri poet and academician, Prof. Rehman Rahi who passed away on Monday after brief illness. 

To mourn his demise a condolence meeting was held at K.L.Saigal Hall , J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu. The meeting  was presided over  by Prof. Mohd. Zaman Azurda, famous Academician and former head Department of Kashmiri, University of Kashmir. Sh. Bharat Singh, JKAS, Secretary, JKAACL shared the dais with him.  

Expressing deep sorrow over the demise of Prof. Rehman Rahi, the Secretary JKAACL conveyed his heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

In his speech Secretary, JKAACL said that real tribute to Prof. Rehman Rahi will be by preserving his literary contributions for the future generations and JKAACL will be organising programmes on his literary contributions. In his concluding remarks Bharat Singh said that we have lost a great literary personality which can never be fulfilled.

 Prof. Zaman Azurda in his presidential address  said that Prof rahi was a great academician, famous critic  and a poet par excellence. His loss is irreparable.

The other dignitaries who expressed their gratitude included Shabir Mujahid, Former Director, Doordarshan, Ghulam Rasool Gadda, Ayash Arif, renowned artist, producer and Director, Asir Kishtwari, Former Director General accounts,  Maqbool Ferozi, Pyare Hatash, Prof Rattan Talahi, Vijay Wali, Khalid Hussain and others.

The programme was ably conducted by Dr. Shah Nawaz, Editor Cum Cultural officer, Gojri, JKAACL.
