J&K registers 28% growth in GST collections in Month of December 2022

SRINAGAR, Jan 02: The Union Territory of J&K has registered a positive growth in collection of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the month of December 2022.

As per the Ministry of Finance statement showing state/UT wise, the GST collection for the month of December 2022 reflects an increase of 28% in GST collection by J&K in the month of December 2022. This is 13 % more than the national average.

Other states/UT’s having more than 28% increase are Chandigarh (33%), Bihar (36%), Nagaland ( 30%), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (37%), Puducherry (30%), Ladakh (68%).

The Additional Commissioner State Taxes Kashmir, Shakeel Maqbool said that this spurt in GST collection is due to better tax compliance and reporting coupled with economic recovery. He further added that this increase is one of the highest ever monthly growth rates in J&K since the inception of GST.
