Jan seeks audit of under construction roads in Pir Panjal

Asks LG to ensure supply of essential commodities in snow bound areas

POONCH Jan, 9 :  Ajaz Jan, Provincial President Youth National Conference, Jammu, today sought audit of all under construction roads in the Pir Panjal range as the executing agencies have miserably failed to match the standards of road construction.

During the tour Jan issued statement here today, the senior NC leader said that the administration was totally failed in maintenance and repair of the road network falling in the Pir Panjal zone. He said even the ongoing works of roads are not following the criteria of construction of roads as fixed by the concerned department. 

The former MLA said that due to rampant corruption in the administration none bother to look into the matter and the authorities are preferred to keep their eyes shut. He asked LG Sinha to look into the matter and direct the authorities concerned to stop wasting the tax-payers money by constructing the sub-standards which will not stand even one year after its construction.

Meanwhile, the senior NC leader conducted a hectic tour by foot in the snow bound areas of Haveli constituency of district Poonch. He along with party leaders met with people and took stock of the problems being faced by them. He observed that the administration was not paying heed to their pressing issues especially towards the winter related issues. 

Jan said the roads in far areas of district Poonch were cut off for last several days due to snowfall and there was no means to supply ration to ration depots in these areas under the prevailing circumstances and the administration has failed to make preemptive arrangements in the area.

The senior NC leader said claimed power failure and water scarcity in the area were adding to the woes of the people of the hilly belt. He demanded restoration of power and water supply in the area on war footing basis and said that all steps should be taken to ensure ration supply in district Poonch.

He appealed to the Lt Governor to take stock of the situation in snowbound areas of district Poonch and issue directives to the administration to ensure immediate supply of essential commodities in these areas so that the people are not put to more hardships.

The former MLA has also directed the Block Presidents of district Poonch to constitute committees at block level to look into the problems being faced by people due to non-availability of basic amenities amidst this chilly winter season.
