Jammu-Srinagar highway blocked by shooting stones, snow; Mughal & SSG Road impassable; Restoration underway

Travelers planning to journey between Jammu and Srinagar face significant disruptions as the vital National Highway (NHW) remains blocked due to multiple factors.

As of Thursday morning, shooting stones near T2, heavy rainfall along the NHW, and snowfall between Ramsoo and Banihal have rendered the road impassable.

Authorities advise travelers to postpone their journeys until the road is cleared and weather conditions improve.

A section of the highway near Shebbi has been damaged, requiring immediate repair work. Restoration efforts are underway, but an estimated time for completion is unavailable.

“People are advised to avoid journey on NHW till road clearance,” the traffic advisory states, urging travelers to contact Traffic Control Units (TCUs) before embarking on their trip.

Adding to the travel woes, both the Mughal Road and SSG Road, alternative routes connecting the regions, are already closed due to heavy snowfall accumulation.
