J&K: Police attach illegal properties worth Rs 50 lakh of drug peddler in Baramulla

Baramulla (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 2 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir police attached properties worth Rs 50 lakhs belonging to a drug peddler in Baramulla, the officials said on Thursday.

The drug peddler has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Sogi, resident of Mazhama in Magam area of Budgam district.

The action was taken based on a case under 68-E read with 68-F (1) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS) and is linked with a case under sections 8/20,22 &29 of the NDPS Act of Kunzer police station, the officials said.

According to Baramulla police, the seized properties included nine marlas land and a double-story residential house. The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police.

The police further urged the community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood.

Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace, they added.
