International Labour Day celebrated at Doda

DODA, MAY 01: The vibrant town of Doda marked International Labour Day with a spirited celebration, honoring the invaluable contributions of workers across various sectors in the district. 

The event took place in the Town Hall bringing together laborers and local residents to recognize the significance of workers’ rights and achievements.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Harvinder Singh, emphasized the crucial role of laborers in all forms of development, including the construction of buildings, roads, highways, and other essential institutions that contribute to national progress. The DC interacted with laborers, listened to their grievances, and assured them that every possible step would be taken to address their concerns.

Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Nehal Pandit also highlighted the importance of the day, underscoring the need to protect and promote workers’ rights through effective implementation of labour laws and welfare schemes.

As part of the celebration, a free medical camp was organized by the Health Department, where a large number of laborers availed health check-ups and consultations. The initiative aimed to ensure the well-being of the working community and raise awareness about occupational health.

The celebration concluded with a call to action, urging community members to support local workers and advocate for policies that protect their rights and dignity.

The event was attended by officials from the officials from Municipal Council, Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner and other departments .
