Inauguration of legal aid clinics in remote areas of Leh by Chief Justice JK’L Arun Palli

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arun Palli Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Ladakh and patron in Chief Ladakh Legal Services Authority inaugurated the Legal Aid Clinics at Hanle, Wanla, Baima, Saspol, Chuchot and Sumoor through virtual mode on 13th June 2025 at the District Court Complex Leh, in the august presence of Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Sindhu Sharma Judge, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and Executive Chairperson Ladakh Legal Services Authority (virtual mode) and Hon’ble Judges of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana. Present on the occasion were Mr. MK Sharma Registrar General High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Principal Secretary to Hon’ble the Chief Justice, Mr. Anoop Kumar Sharma Registrar IT (virtual mode), Mr. Manoj Parihar Member Secretary and Principal District and Sessions Judge Leh, Mr. Tsewang Phuntsog Ld. CJM Leh, Mrs. Phuntsog Angmo Secretary DLSA/Special Mobile Magistrate Leh, Mr. Lakshay Badiyal Munsiff Nubra, Senior Prosecuting officers, Mr. Mohd Shafi President Bar Association and members, Legal aid Defense Counsels, panel lawyers, PLVs and Court staff.

On the occasion Mr. Justice Arun Palli Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Ladakh and patron in Chief Ladakh Legal Services Authority applauded the efforts of Legal Services in providing justice at door step in far flung and remote areas of Leh, considering the vast area and scattered population of the region. His Lordship also mentioned that with the inauguration of the 6 Legal Aid Clinics in the remote areas, a step is taken in ensuring justice to all and he retreated that the judicial fraternity and legal services in particular has to leave no stone unturned to ensure that justice reaches each and every individual.

Mr. Manoj Parihar Member Secretary and Principal District and Sessions Judge Leh presented the welcome address on the occasion and Mr. Mohd Shafi President Bar Association presented the vote of thanks. The program was conducted and coordinated by Mrs. Phuntsog Angmo Secretary DLSA Leh.

Thereafter his Lordship also conducted inspection of the Courts of Principal District and Sessions Judge Leh, CJM Leh and Special Mobile Magistrate Leh. His Lordship also inspected the chambers of the Lawyers and had an interaction with the members of the bar in which the members raised their grievances with his Lordship and on the spot directions for redressal of the same were issued. His Lordship also had a fruitful interaction with the judicial officers and staff members posted at the Headquarters and gave a patient hearing to the grievances raised by them and assured their redressal at the earliest.
