IEC programme under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan organised across Anantnag

ANANTNAG, MAY 17:  An extensive IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) programme under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan was organized today across various educational institutions of Anantnag District to realize the vision of a drug-free society.

The initiative is part of a concerted and sustained campaign to tackle the growing menace of substance abuse, particularly among youth. The programme aims to educate students, teachers, and the broader community about the dangers of drug addiction while promoting a healthy and positive lifestyle through awareness, active participation, and multi-departmental collaboration.

As part of the campaign, a series of events including interactive sessions, awareness rallies, essay competitions, debates, and pledge-taking ceremonies were conducted today in various educational institutions across the district including GDC Mattan, HS Damhall, HS Kamad, EFF EMM School, HSS Kokernag, HSS Hakura, HS Sangran, GHSS Sallar and HS Nowgam.

These activities were designed to inform students about the harmful effects of drugs, besides empower them as change agents within their families and communities.

Special sessions were held during which experts from the Health Department, Social Welfare Department, District Police shared insights into the psychological, physical and social impacts of drug addiction. Real-life testimonials and case studies were also presented to emphasize the reality and severity of substance abuse.

District Administration underscored the importance of community involvement in the campaign. Furthermore the school managements and college authorities were encouraged to establish Anti-Drug Committees and Peer Support Groups to ensure continuous engagement on the issue and to identify early signs of distress among students.

The Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan in Anantnag will continue its activities in the coming weeks, with special focus days planned.
