Govt Degree College, Bishnah organized an Extension lecture on “Psychological Support for Young Adults with Down Syndrome and Learning Difficulties”.

JAMMU, March 28: The Department of Education and Department of Zoology in collaboration with IQAC of Govt. Degree College, Bishnah organized an extension lecture on ‘Psychological Support for Young Adults with Down Syndrome and Learning Difficulties’ on 28th March, 2024 under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. Shallu Samyal.

The Principal of the college in her address highlighted the urgency to understand the problems of young adults with Down syndrome and Learning Difficulties and encouraged student to actively participate in providing psychological help to the needy young adults around them who are facing problems due to their learning disabilities.

 

Dr. Piyali Arora, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Government Degree College (Boys), Udhampur was the invited speaker and she delivered an interactive lecture on the topic ‘Psychological Support for Young Adults with Down Syndrome and Learning Difficulties’. She stressed upon the need to gain valuable insights into the unique psychological challenges faced by the individuals with Down syndrome and practical strategies to provide effective support. This enlightening session aimed to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with Down syndrome. She in her impressive presentation also highlighted the strategies to cope up with the examination stress which can help the students to enhance their performance in the upcoming examination. 

Senior faculty members Prof. Anju Bala, Prof. Hardeep Kour, Dr. Nisar Bulla and Dr. Vasudha Choudhari also graced the occasion with their presence.

The Lecture was coordinated by, Dr. Preeti Mahajan and Dr. Ashma Gupta- Faculty members, Deptt. of Education and Deptt. of Zoology. The students had a very healthy interaction with the speaker at the end of the lecture.
