GDC Vijaypur hosts lecture on Voting Rights

SAMBA, FEBRUARY 14: Department of Political Science in collaboration with NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur, under the banner of Voting Awareness Campaign, on Wednesday organised a lecture on ‘Voting Rights’ to create awareness among the young college students/citizens about the importance of their participation in the upcoming elections.

 The lecture was delivered by Prof. Anita Jamwal, Head Department of Political Science to impart knowledge to students regarding voting rights and its importance for electing a healthy and competent government. She also elaborated upon the initiatives of the government like launching of a new portal for registration of citizens so that they can prepare their voter cards online and also briefed them regarding the process of voting, electoral process, including the role of the Election Commission of India, the process of voter registration, the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and the importance of ethical voting. She also interacted with students and also answered the questions raised by them. The program was attended by faculty members, college students and NSS volunteers of the college.

The program received positive feedback from the students, who found it informative and engaging. Principal of the college, Prof. Dr. Vandana Gupta appreciated the efforts of the Department of Political Science and NSS in organizing such an informative and educative lecture and also for creating awareness about the electoral process.

The program was organized with the full support and coordination of the senior faculty member of the college Dr. Anoop Bhagat (HOD Sociology). The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (Coordinator NSS) and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and co-coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences)and Prof. Renuka Kundal.
