GDC Hajin celebrates ‘World Environment Day’
BANDIPORA, JUNE 05: On the eve of World Environment Day, Department of Environmental Science, in collaboration with the Debates and Seminars Committee of GDC Hajin organized a seminar on a thought-provoking title ‘The Green Debate: Environment Through the Lens of Language, Literature and Politics.’
The programme was held under the guidance of Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Gazala Firdous. The seminar offered a unique interdisciplinary exploration of environmental consciousness.
Prof. Adnan Rashid, Head, Department of Environmental Science emphasized the critical need to understand environmental issues not just through science, but also through the perspectives offered by humanities, social sciences and languages.
Keynote address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Mehraj Hajini, Head, Department of Political Science. He explicitly explored the intricate relationship between environment governance, polity and political structures.
The second session featured lectures on the theme by Dr. Firdous Ahmad Paray, Head, Department of Kashmiri and Dr. Fayrooz Ahmad Mir, Head, Department of Urdu.
The seminar witnessed robust participation, with a large number of students from various disciplines alongside faculty members across departments actively engaging with the diverse perspectives presented.
