GCET Jammu, IIT Kharagpur host 9th NCEEITET technical event

Emphasizes sustainable engineering without harming environment, depleting natural resources: Alok Kumar

JAMMU, February 22: Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Alok Kumar, today inaugurated the 9th National Conference and Exhibition on Emerging and Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology (NCEEITET), organized by GCET Jammu in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur.

Senior Director, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Jeevan Kumar Jethani, Professor Raja Dutta from IIT Kharagpur, CGM Power Finance Corporation Limited, Rajiv Pharlia and, Special Secretary, Higher Education Department, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma were present on the occasion.

The event aimed to provide a common platform to academicians, technocrats, researchers, students and industry professionals to forge collaborative alliances, ensuring progress of science and technology as per the changing economy demands and wellbeing of the global society with a particular reference at the UT level.

Alok Kumar, while addressing the gathering, emphasized upon sustainable engineering by designing and creating things that meets the needs of the common man without harming the environment or depleting the natural resources. He also motivated the budding engineers to become the sustainable engineers to focus upon building smart cities, devise a plan to minimize waste by using renewable sources, reducing pollution and creating long-lasting efficiency system that can be enjoyed by future generations. He congratulated the organizers for holding an event to generate new ideas and push the boundaries of innovations for positive change in the society.

Earlier, Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal GCET, highlighted that the purpose of organizing such events is to provide exposure to the engineering students of J&K on latest trends in engineering and technology. These events will provide them an opportunity to interact, deliberate and exchange their innovative ideas with academicians, researchers, students and industry professionals, she added. She emphasized on global warming, climate change and emerging technologies in the areas related to green hydrogen emission and electrical vehicle and other developments in the renewable sectors.

She added that, the conference channelizes to inspire young budding engineers to reorient their mindset and build ecosystem to encourage high quality research innovation and entrepreneurship particularly in UT of J&K. It provides an ideal opportunity to the students, industry, start-ups to display their working models and projects besides business plans,  state-of-the-art technologies and achievements.

Professor Raj Datta, IIT Kharagpur, while addressing the audience, said that the small ideas can pave way for innovation that can prove beneficial for the society at large. He also emphasized that productive key incentive from this conference can supplement innovative ideas to transform health care sector and urban logistics.

The keynote address were delivered by Jeevan Kumar Jethani, who stressed upon reduction of greenhouse gases and procurement of trajectory of renewable resources which help to clean the environment and reduce the cost efficiency.

Rajiv Pharlia emphasized upon the SCADA and RT-DAS projects for enhancement of power reliability in distribution sectors.

The E- proceedings related to paper publications were released by the chief guest in presence of other dignitaries, technocrats, academicians, industry professionals and students present during the function.

The two day conference comprises of Invited talks, plenary talks by eminent speakers and resource persons followed by five technical parallel sessions for contributed paper presentations.

Besides, an exhibition was part of the event, where the emerging technologies/products have been showcased by various Central Public Sector Undertakings of India such as NHPC, PFC, CVPP, IOC for the knowledge of delegates and engineering students. Also BEE, BIS, J&K Bank, BSNL, NIELIT, Winnovation, Chakr Shield, JKSPDC participated and displayed their exhibits in the event.
