Ganderbal’s ‘Mashal-e-Gaash’ shines bright; CIPS Awards Recognize Trailblazing Innovations

GANDERBAL, January 23: In a landmark event dedicated to fostering innovation in Northeastern India, Union Territories, and Hill States, the Centre for Innovations in Public Systems (CIPS) organized its first-ever award ceremony in collaboration with the Government Innovation Lab (GIL), Government of Meghalaya.

The ceremony, held in Shillong, aimed to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding innovations in Education, Health, Information Technology, and Rural Development.

The spotlight of the event was on Ganderbal’s innovative project ‘Mashal-e-Gaash,’ which garnered significant recognition.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir received accolades for this people-driven initiative aimed at promoting literacy.

The awards encompassed diverse fields, showcasing innovations in healthcare, information technology, education, and rural development, with remarkable projects and individuals being honored.

Distinguished personalities from various sectors graced the occasion, including Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who served as the Chief Guest; and Guest of Honour Dr. V.K Paul, Member of NITI Ayog; Sampath Kumar, Development Commissioner & Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya; Dr. Nirmalya Bagchi, Chairman of the Steering Committee at CIPS, and Dr. Anjali Hazarika, Chairperson of the formulation of the Awards, added to the prestigious panel.

The event featured insightful panel sessions moderated by experts in the fields of health, information technology, education, and environment/rural development. The vibrant cultural tapestry of the region was showcased through a captivating Khasi folk dance performance, adding a touch of local flair to the ceremony.

The celebration culminated with the release of a significant publication titled ‘Celebrating Inclusive Innovations,’ underscoring the importance of inclusive development.

The annual award ceremony, tailored to the unique challenges faced by the Northeast, aims to not only recognize the accomplishments of innovators but also to inspire further creativity and problem-solving in addressing the region’s distinctive needs.
