Full dress rehearsals for 77th Independence Day held across Kashmir

Div Com hoists National Flag at Bakshi Stadium; takes salute at March past

SRINAGAR, August 13: As a prelude to the grand celebrations to be held on eve of 77th Independence Day on 15th August, 2023, full dress rehearsals were today held across Kashmir division.

The rehearsal functions organized across all district headquarters of Kashmir presented a glimpse of preparation for an impressive show of colourful events to be showcased on National festival to exhibit pride of nation.

On the occasion, rich tributes were paid to the leaders, freedom fighters and martyrs who made countless sacrifices for the freedom of the country. Glorifying their contributions, it was said that it is the result of their supreme efforts that we are living in a free country. 

In Srinagar, the full dress rehearsal was held at Bakhshi Stadium, Srinagar, where Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri hoisted the National Flag over the mast at the podium amid the reverberating National Anthem.

The Div Com inspected the parade, took salute at the march past presented by various police and paramilitary contingents, NCC Cadets and students.

 ADGP Kashmir, IGP Central Kashmir Srinagar, DC Srinagar, SSP Srinagar, officers of District administration and HoDs of civil departments were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, students from different schools of Srinagar and artists showcased colourful cultural presentations based on patriotic songs displaying the spectrum of unity in diversity and integrity of the nation.

Meanwhile, Div Com also extended an open invitation to the general public for attending the main event on 15th August with a request to be seated in the stadium by 9 am on Independence Day.

At Anantnag, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Bashir Ahmad Wani hoisted the national flag, inspected the parade and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents from CRPF, J&K Police, Home Guards, NCC and school children at GDC Boys Anantnag.

ADDC highlighted efforts and achievements made by the district under various priority areas including education, healthcare, languishing, back to village, district capex, agriculture and allied sectors, women and youth empowerment, MGNREGA, JJM, water and electricity supply to Anganwadi Centres and schools, rural development, macadamization and road connectivity, social welfare, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, industries, self employment and creation of durable and sustainable assets.

He also thanked the general public for their cordial support during the SANJY 2023. The importance of flagship programmes like ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ was also highlighted.

On the occasion, colorful cultural programmes on patriotic themes were presented by the students from various institutions and artists of the information department.

Among others, ADC, SP, ADC (G), CEO, CMO, ACD, ACP, ACR, Ex. Engineer R&B, Flood, ARTO, Tehsildar Anantnag, officers from civil and police were present at the event.

At Baramulla, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf hoisted the tricolor and took salute at the March–past presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, Home guards, Fire and Emergency services, NCC and students from different schools at District Police Lines Baramulla.

In his address, the ADDC said that this year Independence day is celebrated under the theme ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’, a culminating event of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. He said that it is a tribute to the Veers and Veeranganas who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country.

He also highlighted the various developmental activities registered by different departments in the district and achievements under different welfare schemes during the current financial year.

On the occasion, colourful cultural items and theme-based skits as a part of the full-dress rehearsal were also presented by students and well-known artists, adding aesthetic value to the event.

Meanwhile, similar rehearsal functions were also held at all Subdivisions and Tehsil Headquarters of the district.

At Budgam, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Budgam, Dr. Akramullah Tak hoisted the National flag, inspected the parade and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of Police, JKAP, CRPF, NCC & Student contingents from various schools of district at Sports Stadium Budgam.

The ADDC highlighted achievements obtained under various Government schemes, signatory programmes etc. in the district on the occasion.

On the occasion, artists and other troupes besides students performed colorful cultural programmes which enthralled the audience and invoked huge applause.

Among others, ADC Budgam, Dr. Nasir; ASP Budgam, Head of Departments of all line departments, senior police officers, students, media persons besides officers of CRPF and other security agencies were present on the occasion.

At Pulwama, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Dr Ab Aziz Sheikh hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past presented by contingents from CRPF, District Police, Womens wing JKP, Home guard and school children at District Police Line Pulwama.

Speaking on occasion, ADDC highlighted various developmental works and achievements of the district during the last few years. He said that people of District Pulwama have a great potential to make the district economically vibrant and self-sufficient in various products.

On the occasion, local artists presented cultural programmes, patriotic songs and skits which mesmerized the audience.

Senior officers from civil and police administration, school children and a large number of people were present on the occasion.

Similar functions were also held at DPL Awantipora where ADC Awantipora, Zaffar Ahmad Shawl hoisted the flag and took salute at the march past.

The celebrations of Independence Day under the ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign are also being held across the district at various places.

One mega Tiranga rally was taken out from District Headquarters Pulwama to District Police Lines Pulwama and culminated back at District Headquarters in the wee hours today. The rally was attended by school children, NCC cadets, Police and Paramilitary forces.

At Kulgam, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kulgam, Showkat Ahmad Rather hoisted the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, Women Police, Home Guard, Police band, students from schools and other contingents at District Police Lines (DPL), here.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC highlighted the developmental scenario of the district and achievements recorded under various schemes and sectors in the district.

He added that during the year 2022-23, 2300 works were completed with an expenditure of 62 crore, and 2421 works will get completed under District Capex in the ongoing financial year with an estimated cost of 64 crore.

He also added that under Jal Jeevan Mission 143 Water Supply Schemes will come up with an expenditure of 465 crore and 09 schemes stands completed.

The ADDC added that to promote literature, Art and culture, the District Administration successfully organized the first ever Veshow Literary festival.

Cultural programmes were also presented on the occasion by the students and artists.

ADC, Vikar Ahmad Giri, ACR, Addl. SP and other officers from civil and police administration besides locals, students and employees participated in the function.

At Bandipora, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Ali Afsar Khan hoisted the National flag and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents comprising JKP, CRPF, SPOs, NCC cadets and contingents from various schools at S. K Stadium Bandipora.

In his speech, ADDC highlighted the developmental activities carried out during the current year in the district.

On the occasion, cultural programs were presented by students from various schools to enthrall the audience. Cultural programs presented on the occasion depicted the country’s rich cultural heritage and economic and social progress.

Among others, ASP Bandipora and senior officers of Civil Administration, police, Army, and paramilitary forces were also present at the full dress rehearsal.

The full dress rehearsal function was also held at Mini Secretariat Bandipora, where ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi Pandit hoisted the flag.

Similar functions of full dress rehearsal were also held at Sub Division Sumbal and Gurez, where respective Tehsildars unfurled the flag.

The full dress rehearsal functions were also held across the district at Block Level, panchayat level, and in all Schools and Colleges.

At Ganderbal, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ganderbal, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah hoisted the tricolor, inspected the parade and took the salute at the march-past presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, SSB, PTS Manigam, Forest Protection Force, District Police, Fire and Emergency Services and students of various schools at Qamriya Ground Ganderbal.

In his address, the ADC said that ongoing ‘Meri Maati, MeraDesh’ campaign which is the part of 77th Independence day celebration is in full swing and said that similar function will be also held at Block, Tehsil and Panchayat level for which arrangements are also put in place.

He urged all to participate in the celebrations of upcoming Independence Day with enthusiasm and patriot fervor.

The ADC complimented all the departments engaged in preparations for hassle free celebration of 77thIndependence Day and gave on-spot necessary instructions to the concerned committee members for further fine tuning the arrangements.

ASP Ganderbal, CPO, Executive Engineers of R&B, Jal Shakti besides other district officers from civil and police department were present at the event.

At Kupwara, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the March-past presented by contingents of JKP, IRP, CRPF, FPP, JK Home Guards, Police Commandos and School Children at District Police Lines Kupwara.

Addressing the function, the ADC congratulated the audience on the eve of celebration of 77th Independence Day and highlighted the sacrifices and struggle of freedom fighters of India.

Later, variety cultural programmes were presented by students from different schools on the occasion.

Among others, District Officers and officials were present on the occasion.

Full dress rehearsal functions were also held at Handwara, Karnah and Sogam sub divisions.

At Shopian, the Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Shahbaz Ahmed Bodha hoisted the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute from the contingents of District Executive Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire & Emergency, Homeguards, NCC and students from different schools of the district at District Police Lines (DPL), Shopian.

In his address, ACR outlined the achievements registered by the district Shopian during the current financial year. He stated that the work on various projects of the district amounting to more than 200 Crores is going on speedily and the district, which has a historical status, is progressing by leaps and bounds.

He said, the District Administration is working tirelessly for ensuring Har Ghar Jal by October, 2023 by executing hundreds of schemes worth more than 400 crores.

On the occasion, colourful cultural shows were presented by the students featuring singing of patriotic songs, folk dance and music.

DPO Poshan Abhiyan, SDM, Zainapora, ASP Shopian and district heads of different departments were also present on the occasion, besides hundreds of employees, general public and students.
