Four Indian movies feature in Oscar 2023 Shortlists Announced Under 10 Categories

The Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences recently unveiled its shortlists for the 2023 Oscars. It announced the shortlists in 10 categories: documentary feature film, documentary short film, international feature film, makeup and hairstyling, music (original score), music (original song), animated short film, live action short film, sound, and visual effects.

Four Indian films in different categories have been shortlisted for the Oscars 2023 awards. The shortlisted entry include the following:

1. RRR’s famous catchy song Naatu Naatu in the Best Original Song category

2. Chhello Show called The Last Show in English in the International Feature Film category

3. All That Breathes in the Documentary Feature Film category
4. The Elephant Whisperers in the Documentary Short Film category  

1. RRR

RRR is S.S Rajamouli’s 2022 Indian Telugu language epic action drama film starring N.T.R Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris. The plot of the movie centres around two Indian Revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, their fictional friendship and their fight against the British Raj.

2. Chhello Show

Chhello Show is a Gujarati language drama film directed by Pan Nalin and released in October 2022 starring Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval and Paresh Mehta. The plot of the movie revolves around a nine-year boy Samay.Interested in watching films and filmmaking, he decides to be a filmmaker but was unaware of the heartbreaking times that awaited him.

All that breathes is a 2022 documentary film produced by Shaunak Sen, Aman Mann and Teddy Leifer. The plot of the environmental issues film revolves around two siblings, Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad, who rescue and treat injured birds.

4. The Elephant Whisperers



The movie is directed by Kartiki Gonsalves. The plot of the movie ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ is based on the south Indian couple named Bomman and Bellie who devoted their lives to take care of an orphaned baby elephant and living like a family with it.
