F&ES Directorate hosts Vital CPR, Trauma Care Workshop

JAMMU MAY 05: The Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services on Monday organized a crucial one-day workshop on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Trauma Care at its Fire Training Centre Bari Brahmana. The workshop, held in collaboration with People’s Hut Foundation and Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity, aimed to train participant trainees and staff with essential life-saving skills to respond effectively during medical emergencies and traumatic incidents.

 The CPR training exercise was conducted under the initiatives and guidance of ADGP Director F&ES Department Alok Kumar who appreciated the team virtually. Medical Officer Gandhi Nagar Hqrs F&ES Jammu Dr Manju Thapa presided over the function while as Principal Fire Training Centre Bari Brahmna Himanshu Gandotra was the chief Guest and the programme were conducted by Vice Principal FTC Bari Brahmna Kanwal Peshin.

The initiative brought together medical staff and Fire Trainees from the Fire and Emergency Services for an intensive training session led by experienced medical professionals and emergency response experts. Participants received hands-on training in CPR techniques, the Heimlich manoeuvre, basic first aid for trauma injuries, and essential steps to take during critical situations before professional medical help arrives.

As many as 60 officials participated in the event including 45 trainees undergoing Basic Fireman ship Course Drill and discipline at FTC.    

 The workshop covered critical aspects of emergency response, including recognizing the signs of cardiac arrest and initiating CPR, clearing airway obstructions in adults, children, and infants; assessing and managing common trauma injuries, the importance of early intervention and the “golden hour” in trauma care, Basic principles of bleeding control and wound management.

Deputy Director F&ES Command Jammu Raj Kumar Raina congratulated the team and staff for successful completion of the training telephonically as he was busy on official assignment at Jammu. A memento was presented by the department to Dr Harmeet Singh, MD Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity Jammu for the enlightening training session.
