Empowering MSMEs: RAMP awareness workshop held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG, MAY 27: In a significant move to boost the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in Jammu & Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), in collaboration with the Strategic Planning and Implementation Unit (SPIU) – Grant Thornton and the District Industries Centre (DIC) Anantnag, organized a district-level RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) Awareness Workshop today at DIC Anantnag.

The workshop was presided over by Nazia Hassan, General Manager DIC Anantnag. Speaking on the occasion, she emphasized the importance of the RAMP scheme for the holistic development of MSMEs in the region.

She also highlighted that widespread awareness and outreach are key to enabling local enterprises to access government schemes and incentives. “Workshops like these are instrumental in informing entrepreneurs about opportunities under RAMP and the broader MSME support ecosystem,” she noted.

The SPIU team (Grant Thornton) delivered a detailed presentation on the RAMP scheme in Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting its objectives, components, and key interventions aimed at empowering MSMEs.

The session was designed to raise awareness among local stakeholders and implementing agencies about the scheme’s benefits and opportunities. It covered critical support areas including capacity building, access to credit and finance, skilling, market access, digital empowerment, and institutional strengthening, particularly of District Industries Centres (DICs). Special emphasis was also placed on promoting women entrepreneurship and the formalization of enterprises through digital enablement.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 100 stakeholders, including representatives from JKEDI, Handloom & Handicrafts department, Lead Bank, DIC officials, MSMEs, and women entrepreneurs.

A dedicated interactive Q&A session was held to address the queries of MSMEs and officials from various implementing agencies. Entrepreneurs sought clarity on credit access, formalization processes, market support, and inclusion under government-backed interventions, indicating the strong need for continued handholding and information dissemination.

The event reinforced the Government of Jammu and Kashmir’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and growth-oriented ecosystem for MSMEs, ensuring that the benefits of the RAMP scheme reach the grassroots level.
