DLSAs, Govt departments host special camps to celebrate Int’l Yoga Day

JAMMU, JUNE 21: The District Services Authorities and Government Departments on Wednesday organised special programs and camps to celebrate International Yoga day here across the Jammu division under the theme Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”.

DLSA Samba:  District Legal Services Authority, Samba  observed the 9th International Yoga day(2023) under the theme “Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” with greater zeal and fervor at District Court Complex Samba.

The event was held as per the Action plan for the month of June, 2023 issued by Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority (JKLSA) and   under the directions of Yesh Paul Kotwal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr.Distt. & Sessions Judge Samba),

Kulbir Singh, Physical Education Master, Keshav Singh and Yoraver Singh (both Physical Education Teachers) from District Youth Services & Sports Office Samba were the Yoga experts.

All the three Yoga Experts talked about the countless benefits of Yoga for body, mind and soul and they also conducted YOGA sessions demonstrating different YOG AASANAS. They also deliberated upon as to how Yoga promotes self healing, enhance self awareness, helps in attainment of equilibrium and harmony and much more.  

This event was attended by Urvashi Raina, Additional Munsiff, District Court Samba, Nisha Rani, Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel Samba, Versha Anthal, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel Samba, Panel Advocates, staff of District Court Complex Samba  and  District Legal Services Authority Samba.

DLSA KathuaAs per the Action plan for the month of June, 2023 issued by Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority (JKLSA) and under the directions of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua Ashok Kumar Shavan, (also Pr.Distt. & Sessions Judge Kathua), District Legal Services Authority, Kathua  observed the 9th International Yoga day (2023) under the theme “Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” with greater zeal and fervor at District Court Complex Kathua here today.

The Yoga Session was held under the patronage of State Co-ordinator, Art of Living, Bhagwati Parsad.

Bhagwati Prasad briefed the participants about the countless benefits of Yoga for body, mind and soul besides highlighting the importance of learning Meditation, Breathing Techniques, Pranayama and Sudarshan Kriya to support multiple aspects of physical health, including lung function,  brain function and blood pressure etc.

The Yoga expert explained the objective of observing International Day for Yoga which he said is an opportunity to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of practicing yoga and promoting its holistic approach to health besides making this ancient practice popular among the participants of the program.

A Yoga session was also held where participants performed different Yoga asanas.

The event was attended by Additional District & Sessions Judge, Kathua Kusum Lata Pandita, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Kathua Rekha Kapoor Nishchal, Panel Advocates, staff of District Court Complex Kathua and District Legal Services Authority Kathua, Naib Courties and Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority Kathua.

At the end of the program, a light refreshment was also served to the participants.

Similar programmes were also observed by TLSCs Mahanpur, Bani, Basohli and Hiranagar.

 DLSA Udhampur: District Legal Services Authority Udhampur, in collaboration with Bhartiya Yog Sansthan observed “International Yoga Day” here at District Court Complex under guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman DLSA Udhampur (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) and overall Supervision of Secretary DLSA Udhampur, Ajay Kumar (Sub-Judge).

  The programme was attended by Court staff and Lawyers. The resource person of the programme was Yoga Expert, Bansi Lal, Retired Block Development Officer. The resource person threw light on the importance of the observance of International Yoga Day and gave demonstration of various Asans and Mudra Asanas.

 Later Chairman District Legal Services Authority Udhampur thanked all the participants.

Similar programmes were held by TLSCs Majalta, Ramnagar and Chenani.

GMC Doda: The administration of Government Medical College Doda, in collaboration with District Development Council Chairman Dhananter Singh, celebrated the 9th International Yoga Day in the College premises. The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the Chief Guest, Chairman DDC Dhananter Singh, by Principal of GMC, Puja Umesh, and Founder Principal of GMC, Tariq Azad.

The yoga session began with yogic exercises conducted by Dr. Nidha Padha, a yoga expert from GMC. The yoga expert demonstrated various exercises, emphasizing their proper techniques and precautions.

Undergraduate students of medicine and surgery also actively engaged in the yogic exercises, under the guidance of Dr. Nidha Padha, the yoga expert. The yoga session concluded with the singing of the Indian national anthem, led by DDC Chairman and the administration of GMC Doda.

 Floriculture Department: Department of Floriculture Parks and Gardens Jammu celebrated the 9th International Yoga Day at the Directorate of Floriculture, Parks & Gardens in Bagh-e-Bahu. The event was held under the guidance ofJatinder Singh, Director General, Department of Floriculture Parks and Gardens Jammu. As a part of celebrations a special yoga session was conducted for staff of Floriculture Department Jammu which saw enthusiastic participation.

Yoga Sessions were also organized in different Parks/Gardens of each District of Jammu Province in the presence of District Officers.

 DIET Doda  DIET DODA took part in the Yoga Day festivities, led by the esteemed presence of the Principal Sandhra Malhotra, alongside the faculty members.

 The event witnessed an amalgamation of yoga practices and teachings, igniting a sense of awareness and appreciation for the transformative power of yoga.  

 Together, they embraced the true essence of yoga and encouraged its integration into daily life, enabling a path to wellness and contentment for all.

 Poshan (ICDS) Ramban: Staff and other associates of Poshan (ICDS) Ramban celebrated 9th International Yoga Day with immense zeal and commitment across the district. The biggest gathering took place at Banihal, where a grand event was organized by the Poshan (ICDS) Ramban.

 The Programme Officer of Poshan (ICDS), Jahangir Hashmi, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Banihal¸ Zaheer Abbas and a good number of Anganwadi workers, helpers and ICDS supervisors also joined hands to make this occasion truly memorable.

During the event, the Programme Officer of Poshan highlighted the significance of yoga for leading a healthy and fulfilling life. He emphasized the importance of practicing yoga sessions in Anganwadi Centers in the district, urging all Anganwadi workers to embrace this beneficial practice.

Similar programme was also held at the office of the Programme Officer, ICDS Ramban, which witnessed enthusiastic participation of more than 30 Anganwadi workers and helpers. Yoga sessions were also held in the Child Development Project Office Gool and Ramsoo, as well as in numerous Anganwadi Centers.

The International Yoga Day celebrations showcased the commitment and dedication of Poshan (ICDS) personnel in promoting the holistic well-being of individuals, especially children and mothers. By encouraging the practice of yoga, these initiatives aim to enhance physical and mental health, fostering a better quality of life for the community.

District programme officer Poshan (ICDS) Ramban extends its gratitude to all those who participated in making this event a grand success. He said such collective endeavors play a crucial role in nurturing a healthier society and strengthening the bonds of well-being.

       Directorate of Ayush: To commemorate the 9th International Yoga Day, a yoga camp was organized by Health and Medical Education department,  Directorate of Ayush, J&K  on the theme ‘‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” here at ancient Krimchi Temple Udhampur.

District Development Council Chairperson, Udhampur Lal Chand also participated in the camp and performed Yog Asanas along with participants.

While highlighting the importance of yoga, the DDC Chairperson said that yoga is an invaluable gift of India to the world. It brings harmony in all walks of life and helps in disease prevention, health promotion and management of stress and anxiety besides helping to prevent many lifestyle related disorders.  

  International Yoga Day was also celebrated at Sub Division Chenani, Ramnagar, Dudu and Basantgarh including various educational Institutions of District Udhampur.

 CHC Katra: International Yoga Day was organised in CHC Katra under the supervision of Dr Gopal Dutt Block Medical Officer Katra.

Dr Mitu Dutta Medical Officer Ayush demonstrated the various asanas of Yoga and their benefits to the participants. Dr Gopal Dutt expressed that this day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and promote its holistic approach to physical, mental and spiritual well being. He said that Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition which has emerged as one of most trusted means to boost physical and mental well being. Those who participated in the program were consultants, Medical Officers, MLHP’s, ASHA workers  and various officials of management units and paramedical staff of CHC Katra.

GHSS Girls Doda:  The 9th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School for Girls Doda. The event, held under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhayan, an initiative by the Government of India, began with the pledge by the students to stay away from drug abuse.

The students of Girl Higher Secondary School showcased their dedication to yoga by performing various yogic exercises during the session, guided by Physical Education Lecturer Shahid Bashir and supported by Jagdeep Kour, the District Cultural Ambassador of Government Higher Secondary School for Girls in Doda.

  The students also performed Trikonasana and Garudasana with grace and precision. Teaching staff also actively participated in the yoga exercises. Principal Nazia Munshi, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer of Doda, and prominent teacher Om Prakash Bhagat were present to encourage and support the students throughout the event. The yoga session was   guided by Physical Education Lecturer Shahid Bashir, with the valuable contribution of Jagdeep Kour, District Cultural Ambassador of Doda.

GCW Parade Ground:   NSS Unit Government  College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, NCC Unit and Department of Sanskrit organized a 3-day workshop on the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2023 on the theme “Yoga for vasudhaiva kutumbakam” and under the guidance of NSS programme officers of the college Dr Gurpreet Kour,  Dr Mohammad Majeed and Dr Parvaiz Ahmad.

On the first day, students performed yoga with the family and on the second day, NSS volunteers, NYK volunteers and the NCC cadets visited Gulshan Ground to attend the programme organised by AYUSH ministry in the morning yoga session.

The afternoon session of Yoga was performed in the college premises, the event started with a formal welcome address by the Principal of the college, Dr. S. P.  Sarswat. She hailed the Prime Minister for making yoga day an international event.

 Govt High School Pranoo celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga in the school premises, highlighting the profound message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which translates to “all the human beings on the earth are a single family.”

The morning sun greeted the participants as they gathered on the lush green grounds of the school. Under the guidance of skilled yoga instructors, both staff and students performed various yoga asanas and breathing exercises. The tranquil atmosphere was filled with the soothing sounds of deep breaths and gentle stretches, creating an ambiance of peace and serenity.

 GDC Kishtwar: International Yoga Day 2023 was celebrated  at Government Degree College Kishtwar under the partronship of the College Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar.

The event was organised by Sports and Physical Education, NSS  and NCC Unit of GDC Kishtwar. Yoga Guru Prof Lekh Raj Nirala was the key resource person of the event.

He practiced various pranayamas and yoga asanas like anulom vilom, Bhramari, bhastrika, kapalbhati, surya namaskar, tadasana, shashankasana, bhujangasana, trikonasana , vrikshasana, mandukasana, etc. Students of GDC Kishtwar were accompanied by students from Para  Medical and Nursing college as well.

IIM JammuThe International Yoga Day (IYD) 2023 was observed at IIM Jammu Canal Road Campus.

The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Shri Sahil Mehra, Yoga Guru in the presence of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, and other faculty, officers and staff and students followed by Saraswati Vandana by the students.

The Yoga session started with the systematic practice of different “ASANAS” of standing, sitting, and lying positions under the instructions of the Yoga Guru and the supervision of trained volunteers. The Yoga Guru also mesmerized the participants with a demonstration of some of the most difficult asanas. The yogic practice was followed by a Yoga Quiz wherein students, faculty members, and staff participated enthusiastically.

GDC Vijaypur: NSS Unit of GDC Vijaypur organised a 2-Day Workshop on “International Yoga Day 2023” under the aegis of Mission LiFE, G20 and Nasha Mukt Bharat.  

On the day one of the workshop, students shared their photographs and videos on various asanas where first position was achieved by Kajal Choudhary of Sem IV of GDC Vijaypur, second position was shared by Sharda Devi of BA Sem II of GDC Vijaypur and Nazarit Hussain of Sem II of GDC Darhal and third position was achieved by Ghulam Jeelani of Sem IV of GDC Darhal.

On the second day, the programme was initiated by the welcome address by Dr. Shittal Sharma (Convener NSS) where she briefed the students about the importance of Yoga in our day-to-day life. Various asanas were demonstrated by Dr. Shittal Sharma and Prof. Poonam Kunadn and performed by students and Staff on the theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.

 Central University Jammu: The 9th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Central University of Jammu (CUJ) campus with the theme “Vaudhav kutumbakam”.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain was the chief guest of the event. In his address, the Vice Chancellor said that word yoga has been derived from the Sanskrit language which means to unite. This implies the union of mind, body and soul.

Let us pledge to make Yoga an integral part of our daily lives & also inspire others to do the same, for a better and healthier future, said Prof. Jain.

A Yoga session and Pranayama was conducted by Sandeep Sharma (Yoga instructor) with 150 participants. The session started with the systematic practice of different “ASANAS” of standing, sitting and lying under the instructions of the Yoga Instructor. He also mesmerised the participants with demonstration of some of the most difficult asanas.

 GDC Kalakote celebrated the International Yoga Day  by organising 2 day yoga Shivir. During the 2 day workshop, the Shivir commenced with the morning prayers, followed by various asanas, Suryanamaskar and pranayama which help in detoxification and de-stressing of the body and mind. A good number of students and faculty members participated in the event.

PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar: The NCC Cadets and sports students of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhinagar came together to celebrate the importance of Yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being. 

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 100 NCC cadets & students –  50 NCC cadets from the Srinagar Group, Armed ;  15 cadets from Naval, Srinagar Group; 25 cadets from 2J&K Girls Bn.Jammu Group and  students from the Department of Physical Education and Sports.

The participants engaged in various yoga exercises and poses under the guidance of the resource person, Rakesh Gupta, a renowned yoga expert and trainer currently serving as the Yoga Convenor at Arogya Bharti, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh,.  

GDC Udhampur: In the continuum of the events being held under Azadi ka Amrut Kaal, G20 Presidency of India and Har Ghar Dhyaan Abhiyan, a Yog Shivir was organized by 2 JK boys Bn of the Government Degree College Udhampur.    

The event was organized in the lush green  lawns of the College Vatika under the patronship and presence of the College Principal, Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta and the directions of Colonel R.S Jasrotia, Commanding officer 2 JK Boys Bn and Colonel  Surindra Singh, Commanding officer 2 JK Girls battalion.

A Total of 25  Senior wing cadets of Government Degree College Boys  also   participated enthusiastically in the yoga session.

SKUAST-JAMMU: In continuation to celebration of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, Dean Students Welfare collaboration with National Service Scheme and NAHEP-IDP, SKUAST-Jammu organized Special Yoga Session for Staff and students to commemorate the Ninth International Yoga day 2023.

 Dr. B.N. Tripathi , Vice Chancellor was the chief guest. He was accompanied by Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr. B.C. Sharma, Dr. Rajesh Katoch DSW, Dr. Rakesh Nanda Director Education and Dr. Sushil Gupta Registrar SKUAST–J. Different yoga  assans were practiced by staff and students.

The programme was supervised and coordinated by NSS coordinator Dr. Subhash C Kashyap and Dr. Anil Gupta Medical officer assisted by Dr Dibyendu Chakroborty, Dr. R Punia and Dr Veena Sharma NSS Officers of SKUAST-JAMMU.

The programme was attended by a large number of faculty members and students of Chatha campus.  

University of Jammu: Office of the Programme Coordinator, NSS celebrated International Yoga Day in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.

 More than 150 volunteers participated in the programme with Prof. Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs as the Chief Guest, and Archit Puri, Chairman CII and Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba as the Guest of Honor.

During the Programme the different Asanas were performed by the volunteers of the Directorate of Physical Education.

 Sanjeev Kumar, Faculty member. Dr. Mandeep Singh, NSS Programme Officer and Faculty Department of Sports and Physical Education conducted the proceedings of the programme.
