DLSA Budgam organizes awareness programme on POSH Act at Al-Asma Educational Institute
BUDGAM, MAY 15: In order to sensitize authorities/managements, employees and adolescent groups with the provisions of the ‘Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act)’ District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam today organized an awareness programme at Al-Asma Educational Institute Budgam.
The programme was held under the supervision of O.P. Bhagat, Chairman DLSA Budgam and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Budgam.
Deputy LADC, DLSA Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Wagay, a resource person on the occasion gave a brief introduction on the provisions of the said Act. He said the purpose of implementing the POSH Act is to prevent and protect the women from sexual harassment at the workplace and ensuring a safe working environment for them.
He also highlighted all important facts under different sections of the Act such as definition of sexual harassment, composition of Internal Complaints Committee, complaint mechanism, steps for conduct of inquiry, report submission by Internal Complaint Committee, etc,.
Wagay also spoke about the duties as well as the powers of the Local & Internal Complaints Committee in a Govt. or public organization. He went on to explain the meaning of ‘Sexual Harassment’ with the help of case laws and examples.
The programme was attended by Officers, Officials and PLVs of DLSA Budgam.
