Distt admin conducts IEC campaign against drugs in panchayats across B’pora

Senior officers lead awareness drives under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

BANDIPORA, JUNE 09: As part of the nationwide campaign ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,’ and on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, District Administration Bandipora on Monday conducted a series of IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) programmes across various panchayats in the district.

These awareness programmes aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a drug-free lifestyle.

During the awareness programmes, resource persons from concerned departments delivered insightful sessions highlighting the deep-rooted impact of substance abuse on individuals and society. They urged youth to play an active role in combating the menace and emphasized the government’s multi-pronged approach involving prevention, rehabilitation and enforcement.

At Gamroo, Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Wani attended the IEC programme that witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals. He emphasized the importance of community vigilance and youth engagement in curbing substance abuse, and encouraged collective action at the grassroots level to build a safer and healthier future.

In another impactful programme held at Panchayat Halqa Kehnusa, District Information Officer Bandipora, Adil Manzoor Wani addressed the participants and underlined the collective responsibility of society in tackling drug addiction. He encouraged youth to lead by example and concluded with a powerful message: “Break the chain to make life and the society drug-free.”

Resource persons from various departments participated in the campaign, speaking on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse, and informed participants about available support systems and rehabilitation facilities.
