District Kickboxing Championship-2025 commences at Bandipora
DC inaugurates event, highlights benefits of sports in building a healthy & strong society
BANDIPORA, MAY 17: To promote awareness and unity against drug abuse, District Kickboxing Championship-2025 was inaugurated today by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmed Qadri, in the presence of Padma Shri awardee Faisal Ali Dar, Brand Ambassador of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The championship, held at Islamia Model School, Garoora, Bandipora, brought together hundreds of athletes from all age categories, including boys and girls.
DC appreciated the organizers and participants for their efforts in promoting sports and combating drug abuse. He shared his experience with the gathering, highlighting the benefits of sports in building a healthy and strong society, and the need to stay away from drugs.
Qadri also assured support of District Administration to promote sports in the district, particularly Kickboxing, which he praised for its discipline and physical fitness benefits. He expressed his commitment to providing necessary infrastructure and resources to encourage the growth of sports in the district.
DC also appreciated the District Bandipora Kickboxing Association, a proud member of the Kickboxing Association of Jammu and Kashmir, for their tireless efforts in promoting Kickboxing in the district.
Padma Shri awardee Faisal Ali Dar, who is also the National Kickboxing Coach, emphasized the importance of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraged the youth to stay away from drugs.
He further announced that this year’s activities will be conducted under the Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign to combat drug abuse.
He informed that a team will be selected from this championship, which will represent Bandipora in the upcoming UT level Kickboxing championship, scheduled to be held at Jammu by the end of this month.
