District Health Society organises one day training, awareness program at Katra

REASI, SEPTEMBER 30: An awareness program on Climate Change and its impact on Human Health was today organised in CHC Katra for PRI members of Block Katra.

 Block Medical Officer, Dr. Gopal Dutt welcomed the visiting PRI members, while Dr. Om Kumar Bhagat Dy. CMO Doda  elaborated in detail the causes of local climate change and its effects on Human Health through ppt presentation.

The PRI members present on the occasion were Nirmala Devi DDC Katra; Rajinder Mengi, DDC Panthal; Sham Lal Bhagat, BDC Katra; Surpanches Sudesh Kumar, Prem Lata, Jarnail Singh,  Sukh Dev Singh, Rajinder Kumar and CHOs of all the health facilities of block Katra.

During the program the causes of climate change like Deforestation, Urbanisation, increasing hydrological power projects etc and their consequent effects like frequent extreme weather events like heat waves, storms and floods, disruption of food system, increase in zoonosis and food, water and vector borne diseases were discussed in detail.

Further the preventive measures to reduce the risk of climate change like afforestation, use of renewable sources of energy like solar and wind energy, reduce-reuse and recycle of non biodegradable products like plastic were discussed in detail. The program concluded with refreshment lunch to the visiting PRI dignitaries and participating staff of block Katra. At last the vote of thanks was presented by Yogesh Raina DAM DHS Reasi.
