SAMBA, October 20: District Administration Samba successfully organized a Mega Job Fair at the district level under Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship’s SANKALP initiative (Skill Acquisition & Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Program).

The event witnessed the participation of 28 renowned companies from various sectors, including manufacturing, services, and education, offering over 500 job vacancies. An impressive turnout of approximately 1200 candidates, with educational backgrounds ranging from 12th pass to postgraduate, engineering, pharma, and ITI-trained individuals, registered and actively participated in the job fair.

The district administration’s proactive efforts resulted in a substantial turnout of young job seekers at the job fair.

During the inaugural ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Abhishek Sharma motivated the youth to adopt a focused approach to building their livelihoods, either through employment or self-employment. He emphasized the importance of nurturing the right mindset, confidence, and acquiring the necessary skills and education to achieve their desired career goals.

Deputy Commissioner also directed the Additional Director Employment to create a digital database of the candidates who participated and to facilitate their connections with potential employers and government departments responsible for self-employment schemes.

A total of 328 candidates were shortlisted, and 25 individuals were ultimately selected for various job positions. Furthermore, seven candidates who had completed a three-month On the Job Training program under SANKALP were awarded training certificates.

This program involved a collaboration between the District Administration and Industries to provide on-the-job training and post-placement opportunities to candidates.

In addition, eight candidates received job offer letters from VKC Nuts Pvt. Limited & Agile Herbals during the job fair.

The Employment Department played a crucial role by providing career counseling to the candidates and informing them about the National Career Service Portal. The Additional Director Employment presented an overview of the participating companies and government-sponsored self-employment schemes.

Through this Mega Job Fair, the District Administration Samba made efforts to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, fostering employment opportunities and economic growth in the region.
