Director Horticulture inspects operations in Govt Nursery Pandorian, Garhi
JAMMU, JUNE 16: Director Horticulture Jammu Gul Sayed along with Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, R.K. Kotwal, Nursery Registration Officer, Satish Kumar and DLSMS (Plant Pathology) Jammu, Rakesh Kumar Bhagat today visited the Government Fruit Plant Nursery, Garhi Mishriwalla Jammu.

The Director also visited Government Nursery at village Pandorian and interacted with the nursery staff and reviewed the ongoing nursery operations/ activities and maintenance of plant stock.
He provided valuable technical guidance to the staff on best horticultural practices, emphasizing modern nursery management techniques, plant propagation methods and effective pest and disease control.
In addition, the Director took note of the vacant areas within the nursery premises and instructed the staff to utilize these spaces for the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants. He highlighted the importance of promoting medicinal plant cultivation not only to make better use of available land but also to contribute to the growing demand for herbal and natural remedies in the market.
The Director appreciated the efforts of the nursery staff and encouraged them to maintain high standards of plant health and nursery hygiene. He also assured full departmental support for enhancing nursery infrastructure and capacity-building of the staff through training and workshops.
The visit reflects the Department of Horticulture’s commitment to strengthening plant production units and promoting sustainable and innovative horticultural practices across the region.
