Director AHD concludes 2- Day field tour of Poonch, Rajouri districts

JAMMU, DECEMBER 26: Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Shubhra Sharma, today concluded the two-day field tour to far off places in districts of Rajouri and Poonch.

The aim of the programme was to get the first-hand knowledge of problems being faced by the farmers in the region and to encourage the unemployed youth to adopt dairy and poultry farming for sustainable income and economic growth.

During her tour, the Director was accompanied by Chief Animal Husbandry Officers of respective districts and other senior officers of the department.

 During the first leg of the tour, the Director visited ICDP Sunderbani, Government Poultry farm Sunderbani, proposed Murrah Buffalo breeding Farm at Rajal, Equine breeding farm at Badhoon, Government Poultry farm Rajouri, Liquid Nitrogen plant at Rajouri, CAHO office, PDO office and LDO office at Rajouri.

At CAHO Office Rajouri, she took stock of the progress achieved in implementation of different government schemes and stressed upon the officers and other field functionaries to promote these farmer-centric schemes among the farming community for boosting the farmers’ income.

Earlier, the Director inaugurated a Mega Awareness camp and a calf rally at Siot which witnessed the participation of BDC chairman Siot, other PRI members besides a large number of farmers. Event concluded with prize distribution among winners.

During the last leg of the tour, the Director visited Poultry farm and Government Buffalo breeding farm at Glautha, Mendhar in Poonch district.

Earlier, she inaugurated a Cattle show and calf rally organised during mega Awareness camp at Mendhar which saw participation of DDC Chairperson Poonch, BDC chairman, Mendhar, other PRI members besides a large number of farmers.

 The event concluded with prize distribution among winners and Excellence certificates were also given to farmers for exemplary contribution to Dairy and Poultry sectors.

Later, the director had a detailed meeting with the field staff of Poonch district and reviewed block-wise progress achieved under various schemes being implemented by the department. She further exhorted the staff to work with dedication and sincerity for the betterment of the farming community.
