Diksha shoots 71, lies 21st in Aramco Series Singapore

Singapore, March 16 (PTI) Diksha Dagar, who has been having a modest season, finished strongly with two birdies in the last three holes as she shot 1-under 71 in the first round of the Aramco Team Series Singapore.

Diksha was lying tied 21st as Nicole Garcia fired a five-under-par 67 to top the individual leaderboard.

In the team event, Diksha played alongside Anne Van Dam, Lily May Humphreys and Kim. Together they were 12-under and tied 11th. They were four shots behind the leading team of Liz Young (69), Gabriella Cowley (73) and Ann Charlotte-Mora, who had a rough day with 80. Their amateur Elaine Widjaja played superbly for 63. The leaders were 16-under.

Diksha birdied the second but dropped shots on the sixth and eighth to turn in one-over. On the back nine, she birdied on the 11th and dropped a shot on the 12th. She birdied the 16th and 18th to finish 1-under 71.

It has been a rough start to the 2023 season for Diksha, who has missed the cut in each of the four starts she has made on Ladies European Tour (LET).

In the Individual event, it is South Africa’s Nicole Garcia who leads by one shot having fired an opening round of 67 (-5)

Five players are tied for second place including Austria’s Christine Wolf and England’s Eleanor Givens who were both on Team Wolf.

Six players are one shot further back in a tie for seventh place with Austria’s Sarah Schober, Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup, France’s Agathe Sauzon, England’s Young, Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab and American Danielle Kang on three-under-par.

Team Young sit at the top of the leaderboard on 16-under-par after the first day of the Aramco Team Series presented by Public Investment Fund Singapore.

Three teams sit one shot further back in a share for second place with Team Wolf, Team Hedwall and Team Broch Estrup all on 15-under-par.
