DIC Shopian, Azad Cultural Society Organizes Mahfl-i-Mushaira, book release ceremony

SHOPIAN, September 09: The District Information Centre, Shopian, in Collaboration with Azad Cultural Society on the occasion of 35th Annual Day celebrations of Parvana Public School, Thearin, Gatipora today organised Mehfl-i-Mushaira and awareness Camp cum book release ceremony.

On the occasion, District Information Officer (DIO), Shopian, Showkat Hussain Ganie was the Chief Guest and President, Azad Cultural Society, Thearin, Gatipora Bashir Ahmed Parvana, the Guest of honour. 

On the occasion, Gh Ahmed Showkeen’s Book “Krooth Safar”, “Aaeena Akas” of Marhoom Asrar Ahmad Azad and Marhoom Master Abdul Aziz’s Book “Mou-attar Khaayal” were released by District Information Officer, President Azad Cultural Society along with other distinguished poets.

While speaking at the function, DIO emphasized the need of conducting such literature and cultural functions for the purpose of transmitting the rich literal treasures to the newer generations.

  He also thanked school authorities, teachers, school and poets for their excellent presentation of their Literary works,which included book releases, mushaira,and mesmerizing cultural programmes and skits of students.

More than 20 Poets belonging to South Kashmir districts of Shopian, Pulwama , Anantnag and Kulgam participated in the Mushaira and presented their latest poetry during the programme. 

The galaxy of Poets who recited their poetry included , Abdul Rashid Sidiqee, Bashir Ahmed Parvana, Gh Ahmed Showkeen, Izhar Mubashir, Mushtaq Kulgami, Abdul Rashid Raashid, Abdul Gani Kumar and Abdu Rahim Rahi.

A Kashmiri drama “Nukkad Natak” organised by DIC Shopian on drug menace and its disadvantages by “Yadgar Art and Music Theatre Kulgam” headed by Ashraf Fayaz besides various cultural programmes was also presented by school children.

Felicitation of participants, performing students in arts and academics was also done at the end.
