DHSJ, Information Department collaborate to promote volunteer spirit, honour donors  

JAMMU, JUNE 14: The Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations, Jammu, organised a series of awareness events to commemorate World Blood Donor Day. The event was organized to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and to honor the selfless contribution of blood donors in saving lives.

This year’s theme, “Give Blood, Give Hope – Together We Save Lives,” emphasized the vital role blood donors play in offering hope and a second chance at life to those in need.

As part of the celebrations, a street play (Nukkad Natak) was presented by the artists of the Cultural Unit, Department of Information and Public Relations, Jammu, focusing on the significance and need for regular blood donation. The play effectively conveyed the message about myths and facts surrounding blood donation and encouraged citizens to participate actively in this life-saving act.

Blood grouping of officers and officials of Directorate and adjoining offices was also undertaken by team deployed by Medical Superintendent Government Hospital, Sarwal.

On the occasion, a pledge, led by Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Abdul hamid Zargar, was taken by all present to donate blood voluntarily and regularly. The pledge reaffirmed the collective commitment of the community to promote a culture of regular blood donation for the betterment of society.

Speaking at the event, the Director appreciated the collaborative efforts of the Department of Information and Public Relations and praised the Cultural Unit’s impactful performance in spreading social awareness through creative expression. He also lauded the blood donors, calling them “real-life heroes” who bring hope to countless families.

The event witnessed participation from healthcare workers, officials, students, and members of the general public, all united in their resolve to support the noble cause of voluntary blood donation.

The programme was conducted under the directions of Joint Director Information Jammu, Deepak Dubey and under the supervision of Cultural Officer Jammu, Mukesh Kumar Sharma.
