DHJ takes stock of horticulture activities in Marh zone

JAMMU, JUNE 18: Director Horticulture Jammu (DHJ) Gul Syed conducted a tour of the Horticulture zone Marh- Jammu. He was accompanied by the Chief Horticulture Officer, Horticulture Development Officer and other officials of the Department.

The Director along with SDM Marh, CHO and HDO interacted with numerous local farmers and beneficiaries covered under various schemes by the Horticulture Department.

During the tour, the Director inspected the High Density Plantation at various sites and gave expert advice to farmers for increasing their income. He also briefed the farmers about the schemes of the department and urged them to associate with the Horticulture Department to avail the benefits for high density plantation, protected cultivation, water harvesting tanks, drip irrigation, custom hiring Centres, machinery, nursery establishment etc. for upliftment of their socio- economic status.

Further, the Director impressed upon women entrepreneurs to form Self Help Groups (SHG’s) for setting up of small fruit and vegetable processing units with the assistance of the department, henceforth which can play an important role in enhancing the family income.
