Dharti-Abha Abhiyan event held at Tribal Village Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur

A Model of Convergent Governance and Inclusive Outreach

SAMBA, JUNE 16: To deepen grassroots engagement and ensure last-mile delivery of welfare services, a special “Dharti-Abha Abhiyan”outreach event was today organized at Rakh Barotian, the only officially notified tribal village in Block Vijaypur.

Offering a multi-departmental convergence platform, the campaign brought together representatives from all the line departments, including Health, Agriculture, Education, Mission Poshan, Employment, Rural Development and Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department, among others. Their unified presence served to sensitise the predominantly Scheduled Tribe (ST) population about the wide spectrum of government welfare schemes, rights, and entitlements.

To facilitate meaningful interaction, dedicated information and service stalls were installed by each department. These offered real-time assistance through on-the-spot beneficiary registration, scheme consultations, application processing and distribution of multilingual informational brochures.

A unique feature of the event was the grievances redressal session, where villagers got the opportunity to project the feedback directly to the attending officers. Concerns related to infrastructure, healthcare access, education gaps and delayed scheme benefits were earnestly noted. The officers gave on-the-spot assurances for time-bound resolution, further underscoring the administration’s resolve to foster responsive governance.

Addressing the gathering, field-level officers reiterated the importance of such platforms in bridging administrative efforts with grassroots realities. The event facilitated two-way communication, enabling officials to not only inform but also listen, understand, and respond to the unique needs of the tribal population.

The campaign received overwhelming appreciation from the local residents, who hailed the outreach as a long-awaited and much-needed governmental presence in their lives. The villagers expressed gratitude for the proactive and empathetic approach adopted by the district administration.

The Dharti-Abha Abhiyan at Rakh Barotian stands as a powerful example of how convergent governance, field-level coordination, and citizen-centricity can collectively transform rural and tribal landscapes. It reaffirms the district administration’s vision of “Sewa, Samvaad and Samavesh” (Service, Dialogue and Inclusion) as guiding principles for equitable development.
