Deputy Commissioner Reasi reviews working of Youth Services & Sports Department

REASI, November 13:  Deputy Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Mahajan chaired a comprehensive review meeting in the DC office complex to assess the functioning of the Youth Services & Sports Department. 

The District Youth Services & Sports Officer presented an overview of the department’s accomplishments, highlighting its role in identifying and nurturing talent in schools and Panchayats through dedicated Physical Education Teachers.

He apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the achievements of the Department and an annual calendar of sports activities to be conducted ranging from inter –school zonal level sports competition to national level sports competition.

The Deputy Commissioner issued directions to the concerned department to prepare and establish women’s cricket and football teams for District Reasi. The Deputy Commissioner urged the concerned department to expedite the process of team formation, ensuring that talented individuals from various corners of the district are identified and given an opportunity to showcase their skills on a larger stage.

He further directed the District Youth Services and Sports Officer to organize a “Walkathon” in District Reasi under the theme “Swach, Swasth, and Nasha Mukt Reasi” in the upcoming days. The “Swach, Swasth, and Nasha Mukt Reasi” Walkathon aims to bring together residents of all age groups, encouraging them to take steps towards a healthier lifestyle

  He also emphasized the conduct of sports activities for senior citizens during the B2V5 programme, which is going to start from  Nov 14 in the District Reasi. The minor indigenous games like Guli Danda, Santolia, and Marbles play etc.must be included in sports activities for senior citizens.

Joint Director Planning Sunita Kanchan, District  Youth Services and Sports officer Tarsem Singh and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
