Department of National Security Studies, CUJ Organized Special Lecture to Commemorate National Maritime Day

Jammu, 9 March 2024: The Department of National Security Studies, Central University of Jammu organized a Special lecture on the theme “Evolving Security Scenario in Indian Ocean Region” to celebrate National Maritime Day. The event was held under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain. The lecture was delivered by Captain (Retd.) Kapil Sharma, a veteran having an experience of 34 years in the Indian Navy. Captain Sharma has previously served as an anti-submarine warfare specialist and airborne operations officer in the Indian Navy. The event commenced with a formal welcome address by Prof.  Ritu Bakshi, Head of the Department.

Captain Kapil Sharma discussed the significance of National Maritime Day and emphasized the pivotal role of maritime heritage in India’s national security. He highlighted various dimensions of the maritime discourse that contribute to the overall security of the Indian Ocean. During the Q&A session, scholars and students asked several questions to the speakers with great enthusiasm.

The event was organized by Prof. Ritu Bakshi Dr. R. Sudhakar, Associate Professor delivered the formal vote of thanks as the event convenor. The faculty members and scholars of the department were also present.
