Department of Commerce, University of Jammu Distributed Ration Kits among Needy Families

Jammu, December 20- The Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, visited Panchayat Rajpur Koular of Tehsil Bari- Brahamana, District Samba under its extension and outreach programme to distribute ration kits and other essential items among needy families especially the differently-abled people and widows who were unable to send their children to the school. 

The kits had 15 essential food items such as rice, flour, cooking oil, tea, pulses, sugar etc. The distribution of the essential kits is an attempt to express the support and solidarity of the department with the poor and needy families. The Department of Commerce has always rendered a helping hand to needy people and assured that such reach-out programmes shall continue in the future.

The faculty members of the Department also re-visited the Government Middle School of the aforesaid Panchayat and discussed various problems that were faced by students and teachers of the school. Required counselling was also provided to the parents of the students who were facing difficulties. The counselling was done in the presence of the panchayat members.

The current problems faced by the students and teachers were discussed with these members. The faculty members also distributed refreshments among the students and assured the school management that all kinds of support (both financial and non-financial) will be provided to the needy and meritorious students of the school. The management of the school appreciated the efforts of the Department in providing required counselling to the parents of students.

Prof. Gurjeet Kaur (HOD, Commerce), Dr. Tarsem Lal, Dr. Sunil Kumar and Dr Vishal Gupta were present on the occasion. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Tarsem Lal. Mr. Sher Mohd (Sarpanch), Nazir Ahmed (Panch), Gauri Pathania (Head Mistress), Chander Mohan Bhagat (Teacher), Monika Jamwal (Teacher) and other members of the Panchayat. The school management and Panchayat members expressed their gratitude towards the Department of Commerce, University of Jammu for conducting the counselling session and extending support to needy students and their families.
