DEO/DC Leh Chairs Review Meeting on Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls
LEH, June 23, 2025 – The District Election Officer/ Deputy Commissioner Leh Romil Singh Donk (IAS) today convened a crucial meeting to discuss the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls, at VC Room of DC Office Leh.
A key point of discussion was the submission of Booth Level Agent (BLA) lists by all political parties. DC Leh has instructed all the political parties to submit their list by Friday, emphasizing that BLAs will be a playing a crucial role in scrutinizing and streamlining voter registration in their respective polling station/ areas. This move aims to streamline and formalize the role of BLAs in the electoral process.

Other agenda of the meeting also included a detailed discussion on the six electoral divisions, deletion of duplication of voter registrations and the rationalization of polling stations. The process for identifying and cancelling duplicate voter entries was deliberated to ensure transparency and accuracy in the electoral rolls.
Further, the DC Leh issued instructions for the preparation of a comprehensive proforma outlining essential facilities at polling stations. This includes provisions for drinking water, toilet facilities, ramp facilities for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and other necessary arrangements, reinforcing the commitment to accessible and comfortable voting environments.

In a push for greater electoral participation and representation, the DC Leh instructed SVEEP Nodal Officer Tajamul Ara to prepare a detailed schedule for all six sub-divisions. A significant directive was to identify and appoint “icons” from marginalized communities. This includes identifying and recognizing PwDs, transgenders, youth, and women to serve as electoral ambassadors.

Representatives of Political parties raised several issues. Notably, concerns were expressed regarding the bifurcation of polling stations with a large number of voters and the need to separate polling stations located in close proximity to avoid confusion and ensure smooth operations on election day. The DEO/DC Leh emphasized the need to finalize and verify new polling sites promptly and assured that these concerns would be duly addressed as part of the revision process.
The meeting was attended by all Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs)/Tehsildars, and representatives of major political parties including BJP and INC.
