DDMA conducts disaster preparedness training programme at Shopian
SHOPIAN, MAY 18: In a proactive step towards strengthening disaster preparedness and community safety, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Shopian today conducted a training programme on Disaster preparedness and emergency response at Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz was the chief guest on the occasion.
The training programme witnessed the participation of NCC/ NSS volunteers, student volunteers from GDC and school education, police and other officials, besides civil society members
Experts from SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, Health Services and Police conducted live demonstrations on first aid & triage, fire-fighting techniques, search and rescue operations, and handling of disaster situations like accidents and other disasters.
They highlighted the role and responsibilities of NCC/ NSS Cadets and students in supplementing the efforts during emergencies. Their timely response and coordinated efforts save precious lives and help maintain order in the aftermath of calamities, it was emphasised.
Principal, Government Degree College Shopian, Prof.Mohammad Shafiq, Chief Medical Officer and other senior officers from Police and Revenue Departments were present.
