DDC Poonch inaugurates Polygreen House at Agriculture office Complex

1 lakh Exotic & Hybrid vegetable seedling to be produced in the Green House for the farmers of Poonch

POONCH, March 16: District Development Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today inaugurated Vegetable Naturally Ventilated Polygreen House established at Chief Agriculture Office Complex Poonch.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciating the efforts endeavoured by the Agriculture Department for establishing first-ever initiative of this kind taken in the district. He said that this will go a long way and serve as an asset to the farmers with special focus to the Small and Marginal Farmers which comprise of majority of the farming community.

The DC further said that early raising of seedlings in this polygreen house will fetch an early market to the farmers for better price.

Earlier, the Chief Agriculture Officer Poonch, Rakesh Sharma apprised the DDC that one lakh seedlings of Hybrid and Exotic Vegetables viz Broccoli, Cherry Tomato, Seedless Cucumber, Purple Knol Khol, Coloured Capsicum (Sweet Bell pepper) were initially raised in the poly green house and are very much available to the farmers at a very nominal rates.  The capacity of the unit will be enhanced with the coming time to meet the demands of the farmers.

Furthermore, he explained the initiatives taken by the department in Poonch District by promoting Mushroom cultivation around the year i.e. One normal crop of button mushroom, second Off-Season Button Mushroom, third Oyster Mushroom (Dhingri) in three strains of Pink, Yellow and White and fourth Milky mushroom from this year, Urban Farming, use of Grow bags etc… which are readily available in the District and Zonal seed stores at an affordable rate.

The inaugural function was attended by the District Officers, SDAO Poonch, SMS, Technical Officer and Field Functionaries of the concerned department.
